Neanderthals had problems with metaphorical thinking

Despite the similar ability of both branches to invent words and syntactically construct them, fresh evidence from genetics and neurobiology suggests that our thinking and communication differed significantly. It is likely that these differences, including in terms of metaphors, led to the divergence of our paths and the gradual disappearance of Neanderthals in the struggle for survival.
