According to South Korea’s head, Yoon Seok-yeol, the country intends to send astronauts to Mars and the Moon within the next few decades. To finance these and other space initiatives, about $70 billion of budgetary funds will be allocated.

The Korean Space Agency (KASA), headed by former NASA employee John Lee, is in charge of the programme. The organisation will eventually participate in Artemis-3, the US mission to land a man on the Moon.
